Last night we ate at The Duke of Cambridge, its an organic pub in Angel.
After last weeks epic 3 courses at the Harwood arms its hard to compare. The Duke is fine for gastro pub type food. But its quite pricey £16 -20 for a main. I had Goats cheese arancini with beetroot salad. Also on the menu, lamb shank, spaghetti with pig cheek ragu, and crab cakes. All Organic and well made, generous servings.
But alas I have already booked another lunch at the Harwood Arms with some other friends at the end of April. Can't get over that really :)

Quality organic ingredients bursting with flavour. Interesting seasonal menu. Bustling, enjoyable atmosphere. Fast, friendly service. Cant ask for much more really in a gastro pub. The award winning Duke of Cambridge lays it on in spades.
I love this place. Only downside as a 100% organic establishment I find myself inwardly groaning when catching a sight of the prices on the chalkboard menu. Our friends stumped up more than £20 squid for a single lamb shank main.

I selected one of the cheapest mains in the Spaghetti with a creamy pig cheek sauce at a more reasonable 12.50. It was a fine execution - the pasta was nicely al dente and properly seasoned. The pigs cheek melted in your mouth and a side of rocket helped cut the edge of the creaminess.
As Bex says it aint no Harwood arms in terms of exquisite, orgasmic food combinations. The Harwood Arms would probably win in a one on one back alley pub brawl. But all the dishes at the Duke have an earthy, rich, wholesome-ness to them that make you glow when you are eating it.
Also worthy of note were the accompaniments. Had a cracking 'Eco Warrior' Pale ale which left me smacking my lips. And the bread they plonked on the table was tasty and fresh and on the table you have a bottle of the most wonderful nutty organic olive oil to dunk it in.
Great stuff.
