GOURMET LOVERS BRUNCH CLUB AUGUST 2011 : SIX COURSE TASTING PLATE "BRUNCH WITH A TWIST"

Gourmet Lovers brunch club just keeps on going from strength to strength. With a new tasting plate format and super special guest chefs last week are taking brunch to new heights.  The theme this week: 'Brunch with a twist". Taking much loved brunch classics and configuring them in mind bending, mouth watering configurations.

The tables were set, the coffee and tea brewing and bloody marys were stirred not shaken. We had a fresh new crop of brunch clubbers arriving and six courses primed for devouring, and they were:

'TOAST & CEREAL'

Layered cherry compote with a thyme and lavender yogurt topped with toasted pecans, oats and fresh cherry

Baby banana bread toast with lavender butter

'WAFFLES & PANCAKES'

Peanut butter waffles with crispy pancetta drizzled in maple syrup and paired banana smooth

Lemon and ricotta hotcake with honeycomb butter

'EGGS TWO WAYS'

Black pudding  & mint scotch eggs

'Surprising soldiers' : Salmon mouse and rhubarb egg with crunchy rye toast soldiers

'MUSHROOMS'

Selection of deep-fried exotic mushrooms, balsamic smear with crispy pancetta, watercress salad with truffle dressing and mustard ice cream

SAUSAGE, BEANS & HASH

Onion marmalade sausages with home made oven baked beans and courgette hash browns

SWEET TREAT

Pear tart tatin with Roquefort ice cream

It was one of those schizophrenic british summer days, sunny one minute pouring with rain the next, so our guests took the time just to enjoy and long and luxurious brunch, chat with their dining companions, gaze out the window and enjoy the papers. A great day fill with fantastic food and laughter enjoyed by all.

This was a great team effort. Super gourmet love must go out to my guest chefs and front of house for their herculean efforts - Jaime, Matt and Raivo. You guys are amazing. Hope to do it again with you soon. Thanks to Dave for the guest side photos. And last but not least special partygirl mention goes to my flatmate Louise who came home at 6am after a long night to help grate some courgettes and share a cheeky breakfast beer :) See you all at next brunch club...
