On Saturday 4th September I under took a tea party hosted alongside my good friend and fellow vintage lover Marie. Marie enlisted the amazing vintage hair and makeup skills of one of the girls who did our hair at Secret Garden party. Ceridwen from Cherry Blossom Beauty Parlour, along with her lovely assistant Jenny spent a good 6 hours meticulously styling the ladies with quiffs, curls and victory rolls as well as stunning make up looks ala Dita Von Teese or Betty Draper.
Gourmet Lovers provided the spread.
Tea, blue velvet cupcakes, whoopie pies, sweet scones as well as savoury pumpkin, zucchini and cheese.
Finger sandwiches (cucumber, cheese and pickle, salmon and cream cheese) and our roasted beetroot, goats cheese and lentil salad.
There were more bubbles flowing than tea so the food helped line our stomachs throughout our afternoon of pampering. (Although it didn't help the already restrictive waistlines of our vintage frocks!)
I will be posting recipes next for the whoopie pies and savoury scones, until then here are some of the pictures from the fabulous day.
With Breakfast at Tiffany's and Rear Window playing on the projector, we were provided with inspiration for the glamorous hair and make up applied by Ceridwen and Jenny.
As we were transformed in to Audrey and Graces we sipped champagne, painted nails, played boules interspersed with nibbling on scones topped with homemade jam and indulging in one too many fluffy iced cupcakes. A truly decadent Saturday afternoon.
This was such a popular event and you can be sure I will be continuing with this idea and including some other activities to the afternoon like a vintage clothing swap or dance lessons.
