GOURMET LOVERS BRUNCH CLUB 2011

Hey Lovers,

It was our pleasure to have 16 lovely people to brunch on Sunday, our first brunch club of 2011.  A relaxing Sunday morning, sun streaming through the front window (at least initially) a mixture of old friends and new ones enjoying a bloody mary, reading the papers and good food.
This time, we included some of our classic and most popular brunch dishes, corn fritters and huevos rancheros. With 11 requests for one of these dishes, they are sure fire hits!
Four adventurous sorts opted to try one of our new options. Smoked haddock gratin with soft egg and cheese blintzes, click the links to find recipes we've already posted for these two fab dishes.

'Amuse Bouche'.

Baby Benedict with Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

Saffron Infused Yoghurt with Pomegranate and Pistachio with Rosewater

Mini French Toast with Banana and Toffee Smoothie

Mains

Smoked Haddock, Spinach & Potato Gratin with Soft Egg

Soft Cheese Blintzes with Blueberry Sauce

Corn Fritters with Oven Dried Tomatoes, Crispy Bacon and Spicy Avocado Salsa
Huevos Rancheros, Duck Egg with Spicy Chorizo, Avocado Salsa and Tomato and Bean on a Lightly Toasted Tortilla

Usually we have lots of lovely photos to show you, this time we thought we'd post our first Vlog! I got a great little Sony Bloggie for my birthday, perfect for quick interviews when you're on the go, or in our case cooking up a storm. Totally cute!.

Heres a little 'how to' for Nicks delicious corn fritters...

As usual I baked a sweet treat as a dessert. This time I chose a breakfast themed cupcake from the Lily Vanilli cook book 'A Zombie ate my Cupcake'. Lily is an artist and baker and her cupcakes are stunning creations. These ones were called Zombies Breakfast  - pecan, nutmeg and cinnamon cupcakes with a maple cream frosting in both white and yellow, iced to look like fried eggs. And the controversial addition, a piece of crispy bacon stuck in the icing!  It works with pancakes and maple syrup so why not maple syrup icing? Heres's Nick testing them out...

Hope to see everyone again soon.

Thought you might want a recipe for Maple Bacon Bourbon ice cream. It's along the same vein as the cupcakes you made.
